Layout Changes

Those of you reading my posts via a reader likely won't have noticed any changes, but if you wouldn't mind popping by my blog and giving me your thoughts on the layout change, I'd appreciate it. I'm now doing columns on each side of the entries and I'm kind of hating it. It feels so busy! I'm a bit attached to my widgets but perhaps they're too much -- what do you like/dislike? Thanks for any help or suggestions. I might attempt a custom background now -- we'll see if I can take a lovely picture!

  1. Your columns are sleek and refined so they don't look too busy to me.

    1. Thanks, Kathy -- that was my goal so I'm glad it's not overkill!

  2. Hmm, I just tried to make a comment, and it seems to have gotten away, so forgive me if this shows up twice.

I'm actually a fan of the whole 3 column layout thing. I guess I oughta be given that that's what I use on my own blog. ;-) It's nice having some of the more important stuff up top so people that might be just glancing by can see it without scrolling. It does always have the danger of looking cluttered, but I think yours look great! =)

    1. I do like the three column for just that -- I was afraid stuff was getting buried. Now I've just got to find the right background that doesn't make things too busy...thanks for taking the time to give me feedback!

    1. Thank you, JoAnn -- attempt one works but now I'm thinking of staging my shelves for the 'ultimate' bookshelf photo! ;)

  5. Doesn't seem too busy for me at all. The columns all feel very discreet and everything is really easy to read... the organization feels strong to me, so I wouldn't fret!

  6. Umm, pardon...what? Sorry, I got distracted by your books. I love the background picture!

Everything looks nice to me. The only problem I am having is that the page is not scrolling smoothly. It freezes up severely in Internet Explorer 9. When I switch to Mozilla everything is fine, though :-)

    1. Aw, thanks, Danielle!! I suspect the image file might be too huge -- I'll try compressing it some more to see if that helps. I'm so glad you enjoyed eyeballing the books -- I'm tempted to stage the shelves and rearrange things for maximum exposure! ;)

  7. I like it. I know what you mean about it being busier, but I find that I have so much to put that 3 columns just makes sense, LOL. I don't think it's too busy.

    1. Thanks, Jenny -- I love having stuff in the sidebars so I'm always worried I've gone overboard!

  8. I think it looks fine. I checked it via my phone, and two different browsers and it loads okay too. I don't think it's busy.

  9. I like your sidebars just fine. I like your background too. I don't like them together, personally. I don't claim to be a design expert however. I'd go for a plain background though
